Looking back, life can be understood backwards but it must be lifted forward. The scars of your past will bury you if you stay with them. The past may dictate what you were but it cannot decree what you become. Do not focus on your past defeats, God was only preparing you for your future success.
Use your past as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past, you don’t try to forget the mistakes but you don’t dwell on them either. If you don’t make peace with your past, it will continue to show up in your present. Forget those who left you, some people must leave you for your star to shine. That they left you is not the end of your story but that is the end of their part in your story. When a relationship is over, let it go, don’t continue watering a dead flower, it will never bud, it can only bleed. It was your yesterday that made you who you are today. Those who love you must love your past because the struggles of your past were the raw materials of your now.
Do not fight the past, let it go. Forgive somebody.
Forgiveness is giving up on the satanic lie that the past could have been any different.
One of the happiest moments in your life will be the hour when you draw courage to let go of the past you cannot change. Whatever your past has been, you have a spotless future. Let go of people who dull your shine and remind you or make you feel guilty about your past. You are not allowed to have a reverse gear in your life’s car that is why in Ephesians 6, no provision was made in the believer’s war dress for a back protection.
Looking back is a risky divine business. You know you have conquered your past when you can laugh at what could have made you mad in the past.
Forgive others not because they deserve forgiveness but because you deserve peace.
What does not challenge you will not change you.
